DiManEx joins the AM Green Trade Association

DiManEx, this month has proudly joined the Additive Manufacturer Green Trade Association (AMGTA), a global trade group founded to promote the environmental benefits of additive manufacturing.

DiManEx contributes to the AMGTA among other things, by sharing its knowledge and expertise in supply chain optimisation and additive manufacturing, as well as helping quantify the positive effects of AM as part of digital supply chains.

Additive manufacturing (AM), commonly called “3D printing,” builds a three-dimensional object by successively adding material layer-by-layer, in contrast to traditional manufacturing processes like machining, casting, and forging, in which material is removed from an item (subtractive manufacturing) or poured into a mould and shaped. AM results in less waste and greater efficiencies than conventional manufacturing, and in many cases can offer greater precision and uniformity.

Part of this process is the creation of a digital file, used for the printing of, for instance, (spare) parts on 3D printers. In doing so, OEMs build digital warehouses and create the parts exactly when and where they are needed. DiManEx’s end-to-end platform-based service allows its customers to analyse and select the right parts for 3D printing, digitise the parts in various ways and takes care of the entire 3D printing (including post-processing and testing) process of the part. This allows customers to print the right parts, in the right quality, in the needed quantity and at the right time and place (close to where a part is needed).

Additive Manufacturing itself directly contributes to a more sustainable world. However, the service and way of working of DiManEx adds significantly to that same goal. Printing close to where the part is needed reduces transport, hence CO2 emissions. Printing the quantity of goods needed avoids unnecessary manufacturing of goods, and so less use of materials and energy. It also leaves customers with less unsold goods that need to be scrapped. DiManEx quantifies the sustainability effects of its service for customers, allowing its customers to measurably contribute to its own sustainability goals.

About AMGTA

The AMGTA was launched in November 2019 to promote the environmental benefits of additive manufacturing (AM) over traditional methods of manufacturing. The AMGTA is a non-commercial, unaffiliated organisation open to any additive manufacturer or industry stakeholder that meets certain criteria relating to sustainability of production or process.
